What's New?
The latest Renegade has a new standard engine, replacing the previous 2.5-liter I-4 engine with a turbocharged 1.3-liter I-4 engine. The new Renegade has streamlined its list of trim levels as well, with the Jeepster, Upland Edition, Freedom Edition, 80th Anniversary Edition, and Islander trims getting jettisoned. The trim list also adds two new models: the (RED) Edition and Altitude package.
The Renegade is also an off-roading powerhouse. The Renegade Trailhawk® trim is Trail Rated, which means it passed a series of tests in some of the most extreme off-roading conditions.
Performance
The Renegade has a turbocharged 1.3-liter I-4 engine that produces 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while four-wheel drive is available.
Design
With five seats and a passenger volume of 100 cubic feet, the Renegade provides plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and get comfortable. Even with its compact design, the Renegade still has a maximum cargo volume of 50.8 cubic feet.
Technology and Safety
The Renegade comes standard with an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, which provides easy control over vehicle settings, navigation, audio, and more. Available Send & Go lets you search for destinations on your smartphone and then send their locations to the infotainment system. An available 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot provides internet connectivity to up to eight devices in a 50-foot radius.
The Renegade also boasts plenty of useful safety features. Standard features include Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, and LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist. Adaptive Cruise Control is also available.
